Leasehand – Various Locations

The Leasehand is the most junior position on a rig crew. Leasehands assist with the everyday operations of the drilling rig. This includes but is not limited to loading and unloading trucks, cleaning buildings and equipment and assisting other crew members. Leasehands are also responsible for housekeeping on the rig.

Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with Safety Policies, Safe Work Procedures, the Predator Health and Safety Program, as well as Government Safety regulations pertaining to all rig operations
  • Participate with Hazard ID Program
  • Report all incidents to the Rig Manager
  • Keep the lease and inside of all the buildings tidy and clean, keep stairs clear of hazards and ice at all times, as well as make sure equipment and parts are sorted and properly arranged
  • Wash down the outside of all buildings
  • Check rig for any repairs needed and advise Driller

Floorhand – Various Locations

The Floorhand’s primary duties are to assist the Derrickhand and Driller on the drill floor while making trips. In addition, the Floorhand also performs duties of an all-around worker on the drilling rig floor.

Responsibilities: 

The duties of a Floorhand include but are not limited to the following job requirements:

 

  • Learn and be knowledgeable of and adhere to the Company’s Safety Policy, procedures and practices as well as all Government safety regulations pertaining to the area and encourage others to do the same.
  • Support and promote the Company Safety Program
  • Set an example to fellow crew members
  • Ensure the drill floor is kept clean and orderly
  • Ensure the Preventative Maintenance checklist is performed on all equipment
  • Inspect equipment such as tongs, pipe, ect. and ensure they are in proper working order
  • Inspect and grease Kelly bushing, wirelines unit, etc.
  • Inspect and service Draw-works

Motorhand – Various Locations

The primary duty of a Motorhand is to ensure that all equipment is operating and functioning properly.  Minor repair work on equipment should be accomplished by the Motorhand.

The duties of a Motorhand include but are not limited to the following:

Derrickhand – Various Locations

This position is responsible for all work above the drill floor, this includes; watching and maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment and the preventative maintenance program.

Responsibilities: 

The duties of a Derrickhand include but are not limited to the following:

  • Know and adhere to all Predator policies, procedures and practices, and ensure crew members are doing the same.
  • Learn and adhere to Government safety regulations
  • Execute and promote the Company’s Safety Program to all employees and set an example to fellow employees by adhering to all Safe Work Practices and Policies.
  • Instigate, encourage and participate in weekly safety meetings, rig inspections and Hazard ID Program.
  • Report ALL incidents.
  • Responsible to condition the drilling fluid and maintain mud pumps.
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment above the drill floor and all equipment associated with the drilling fluid system.Inspect shale shakers, mud agitators, hoses, connectors, slashpumps and suction line pulsation dampeners daily to ensure proper working order.

Driller – Various Locations

Lead crew member in charge of the drill crew, ensures that the crew adheres to Predator's procedures and practices. Driller's promote the company's safety program, and operate the drilling and hoisting equipment.

  • Must become familiar with the BOP.

HSSE Field Advisor – Red Deer

The HSSE Field Advisor is responsible for supporting the health, safety, security and environmental department in a variety of HSSE related functions both in our Red Deer office and field operations through out Alberta and Saskatchewan.  

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • NCSO Designation or equivalent.
  • Enform H2S/H2S Clear.
  • Enform PST.
  • First aid level A CPR.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • To act in a way that demonstrates and supports the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Predator Drilling.
  • Manage and adhere to assigned budgets.
  • Ensure drilling sites are always 100% compliant where management, 3rd party or client inspections result in extensive non-compliance issues
  • Conduct HSSE inspections and audits to meet or exceed inspection and audit schedules.
  • Implement a proactive effective HSSE program through out your assigned areas to ensure the TRIF rate remains below 3.
  • Daily, Weekly and Monthly HSSE inspections of the rigs and assist in producing viable corrective actions and follow up.
  • Work with client and Predator supervision to be solutions based when safety related concerns are raised.
  • Assist in incident investigations and provide input for viable corrective actions.
  • Follow up and review the completion of the corrective actions from all incident investigations.
  • Review and correct deficiencies in all incident reports before senior managements sign off.
  • Preform onsite Safety advising, mentoring and coaching through daily interaction with crews.
  • Conduct on-site orientations
